A core feature of ALPE is the development of radically new electrocatalysts, that are very different from those of the state of the art.
They are obtained by a «Bottom-Up» synthetic approach. Active sites and support are prepared separately and put toghether only at the end of the process. This gives rise to weak active sites/support interactions, that bottleneck performance and durability.
They are obtained by a proprietary “hierarchical” synthetic process. Active sites and support are obtained sequentially, modulating the structure and the interactions in a CN matrix. Strong interactions are established between active sites and support. This allows to better modulate chemical composition and morphology, raising performance and durability.
